Washington Restaurant

Washington is one of the oldest restaurants in Ankara and has been hosting artists, politicians, businessmen, journalists, bureaucrats and those from diplomatic quarters for years. It is among the most preferred restaurants on the topic of Turkish cuisine in town.

The place is a two-story house located in Gaziosmanpas,a. While climbing upstairs you feel as if you are passing through the corridors of history. You are greeted by photos of famous visitors lined on the walls. The starched white tablecloths are the traces of a long forgotten habit.

The Russian dishes popular in Ankara in 1930s are still on the menu. Famous Borsch is strongly recommended. Artichoke with olive oil, stuffed wine leaves, su boeregi, and sauteed shrimp in butter are the favorite starters. Halep style meatballs, sisό (meat on a skewer) with yogurt and mixed grills are some of the dishes whose quality remains unchanged. Stewed lagos and grilled fish are the favorites in the fish menu.

After tasting delicious Turkish sweets, the bill you are going to pay is not that much!
